We are learning about directions in maths at the moment. Today we had great fun using the Bee Bots. We began by learning how they move. Then we set ourselves challenges to get from one place to another on the mats by programming the Bee Bot to move - we tried doing this in the shortest number of moves, the most complicated ways we could find and even going backwards!

During maths this week we have been creating maths menus.
To order an item from our menu you must first solve a maths challenge that uses addition or subtraction. We have written our own menu and created challenging questions. Next week we are going to buy from each other's menu. We are also going to be baking some treats to sell in our own cafe. We have used the app AR Portal to create some stories that transport us to a different place or back in time. This is the first time that we have used the app and we plan to use it again later in the year to create a different story improving upon some of the things that we learnt, such as ensuring the story matches the video and using the iPad to produce quality recordings and adding additional effects.
Scan the QR codes below to check out our stories! We have been writing stories for our junior buddies. We began by reading lots of stories that we loved when we were younger. We explored some of the common features that made them successful. We discovered many great children's books have these features
Some of us wrote our own unique story while others used a dragon video clip as a prompt. Then we filmed ourselves recording our bedtime story. We worked hard to
We have added our work to our own Seesaw account and reflected on our success at these criteria. We know that, as a class, our next focus is on
We are so lucky to have a wonderful teacher from China working with us on Wednesday afternoons. She is teaching us about Chinese culture and also some Mandarin language. Following on from our reading and writing over the last two weeks, K11 began an art project based on the same legend. We began by sketching our basic design. Then we added black vivid. Our next step is to add pastel. Sam's reading class created a story mountain and transferred this to Thinglink during reading time. This will be added to our Seesaw accounts too. During Week 4 we had a great time at Aquagym taking part in an intensive swimming programme. The opportunity to work with expert coaches on developing our water confidence, learning the correct techniques for a range of swimming strokes and developing endurance to swim over longer distances was a great learning experience. In Week 5 it was our school swimming sports. Well done to all those who took part!
